Astrology offers a captivating blend of usefulness and fun, making it a source of intrigue for many. Beyond its entertainment value, astrology holds the power to provide valuable insights into various aspects of our lives. By examining the positions of celestial bodies at the time of our birth, astrology can shed light on our personalities, strengths, and challenges, guiding us towards a deeper self-awareness. I’ve always had an interest in astrology, but during the pandemic I discovered that exploring horoscopes, birth charts, and compatibility readings is an extremely enjoyable way for me to connect with friends and loved ones, fostering conversations and connections that might not have occurred otherwise.
Inspired by the twelve representations of astrological signs, I wanted to create stylized illustrations with the appearance of a stain glass window, where the artwork is segmented into several colored shapes. I first used Adobe Illustrator to create simplified illustrations of each sign’s symbol. While this vector art was nice and bright on it’s own, I transformed the artwork into realistic stain glass windows by exporting the vectors into Photoshop and applying a cocktail of patterns and textures.
