In 2019, I was convinced to play fantasy soccer for the Premier League. Inspired by the beautiful and intricate logos of the teams, I decided to create graphics of the logos as neon light signs and gold foil stamps to be used as phone screens by myself and my friends. Afterwards, I expanded into other sports teams, starting with my beloved Bay Area teams, such as the Giants, Niners, and Sharks, as well as the Scottish soccer team Celtic FC.
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the base graphics of the logos and then exported these graphics into Adobe Photoshop where I used a cocktail of effects to make them seem realistic. For the gold foil stamped graphics, I created flat black variations of each logo. I then created and applied a shiny gold texture before adding more subtle effects, such as a paper texture and minor edge distortions to suggest an embossed look. For the neon sign graphics, I created flat color line-frames of each logo that were used as the base for various layer style options configured to create vibrant lighting effects perfect for depicting a realistic, illuminated neon sign. I then added more details to make the neon sign effect look even more realistic, including glossy tube reflections and wall mounted brackets.
